Northwestern Ontario, Canada
1,900 ha
The Legear Project is a prospective lithium property located in the Patricia Mining Division of northwestern Ontario. It includes 106 unpatented mining claims covering approximately 1,900 hectares in a region actively being explored for lithium-bearing pegmatites.
Prime Location in Emerging Lithium District
Legear is located just 50 km south of Green Technology Metals’ Root Lithium Project, placing it within one of Ontario’s most active and rapidly advancing critical minerals corridors. The project lies along the terrain boundary between the Winnipeg River and English River subprovinces which is an area known for its favorable geology for hosting lithium-rich pegmatites.
Geological Setting
The property is underlain by peraluminous S-type fertile granites and metasedimentary rocks, which are considered ideal exo-contact environments for fractionating granitic intrusions. These geological conditions are commonly associated with lithium-cesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite systems.
Exploration Potential
- Highly Prospective Host Rocks: The presence of fertile granite and metasediments provides a compelling target for LCT pegmatite exploration.
- Underexplored Ground: Despite its location in a proven lithium district, the Legear Project remains largely underexplored.
- Strategic Positioning: Proximity to known lithium deposits enhances the potential for discovery.
Next Steps
Huntsman plans to initiate early-stage exploration to evaluate the property’s lithium potential, including field mapping, sampling, and geophysical targeting.
